Book 6

The gypsy jazz volume 6 is the last in the Robin Nolan Trio play along songbooks and rounds off the series featuring one final collection of Django's most celebrated work.

In this volume we also feature four tunes from Django's Bebop repertoire. These songs represent the final chapter in his career and round off the great man's compositional achievements.

We have included a very popular Django blues, a rhythm changes, a couple of straight ahead jam tunes, an amazing ballad and once again added to the stock of chord progressions and harmonic movements that were the basis of popular song writing in the first half of the 20th Century.

" I think people playing Gypsy Jazz guitar are getting better every year, and your play-along CD's are prime contributors to the annual upping of the standard. We all know that Gypsy Jazz is getting more attention these days from listeners of good music. and part of this is because they are picking up the bug from players who are hoisting the torch. But playing Gypsy Jazz guitar is a hard nut to crack, and a lonely endeavor if your living deep in the heart of mid west USA. Your CD's help break the "code" and serve as the impetus players need to keep at it, keep getting better, and savor their musical successes.

Thanks for a product much needed and extremely well done !"

Thank You ! ...I am very impressed with the quality of your publication. The glossy paper it is printed on, calligraphy style font, supplemental photo's and attractive graphics make this one of the best quality and most visually attractive pieces of guitar literature I have ever seen! The instruction contained is very clear and concise as it not only talks about the proper approaches to playing the music but also explains the thought that should go into playing it. The CD play along tracks really put an important finishing touch to the package, the playing on them being superb.

Dave McCarty - Acoustic Guitar Magazine, USA

This final book in Robin Nolan and Paul Meaders remarkable introduction to the Gypsy jazz repertoire is a great ending to a great instruction series. Focusing not on the stylistic elements of Django Reinhardt's style but on the repertoire he made popular with the Quintet of the Hot Club of France, the Gypsy jazz songbook series is aimed at helping students play Reinhardt's tunes in the right keys using the correct chord inversions. This final volume, fittingly covers the later part of Reinhardt's career, when he experimented with bebop, and includes tunes in that style. Another key section covers the distinctive endings Reinhardt used. On the companion CD, nolan plays the melody of each tune, followed by several choruses of rhythm guitar and bass so students can play along with a professional Gypsy jazz rhythm section.
