This book and Play Along CD feature a unique collection of "hip" Gypsy Jazz "licks" which are applied to some of the most popular "standards" being played in the Gypsy Jazz scene today.

These are very helpful especially to me and players like me who can play gypsy melodies and chords fine but tend to drift into our old "less gypsy" ways during solos. Thank you for sending me the Licks Book. I received it about a week and a half ago. I have totally gotten into it. It has just been this little treasure trove of delightful ideas. This is exactly what I needed to turn a lot of theory into music. By repeating the lick over all different types of chords, in progressions in real songs, the book fills in holes in my understanding where I always used to spin out because I would not be able to figure out how to transform a lick to work over "the next chord". This gives me the recipe. A case in point is diminished lick #4 over Dark Eyes. I never new you could use the diminished with the major seventh in it as a starting point to play diminisheds over major type chords. Ding Ding....Yippee - Transferable skill - got it. Because I already understand the positions and in most cases the theory, I am able to sit down and digest a couple of licks within an hour or two session. So I always feel like I accomplished something. Powerful Ju Ju. Now that I have some of them under my belt I am modifying them and connecting them up with other licks. But of course, you say...... Can't wait for Book 2!
